The word baptism comes from the Greek word baptize, which means, “to submerge.” When a person gets baptized, they will either have water poured on them or they will be lowered beneath the water – depending on location & circumstances. This shows how one would be putting to death an old life without Christ & then are raised up out of the water to show how they are united with Jesus in His resurrection. We believe that anyone can begin a relationship with Jesus Christ. You don’t have to do anything to earn a relationship with Him; it’s all about faith. Once you have made the decision to follow Jesus, an important step to growing in your faith is to publicly acknowledge & celebrate your commitment to Him through baptism.
