Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Synergy Outreach
Shop for or collect food & essentials in your community
Get creative and rally your neighbors or coworkers to collect food for local food pantries hit hard by the double whammy of summer and the pandemic. You’ll be both a blessing and answer to prayer when you drop off food and other essential items to restock empty pantry shelves.

Volunteer on-site to receive and deliver essentials
If you enjoy working at the heart of the action, join the team that receives, sorts, and delivers the food & essentials that others drop off at the church. We want to ensure that these goods are packaged and transported to community organizations with care. You will receive more guidance & resources when you sign up for your shift.

Renovate a homeless shelter
St. John’s Church, in partnership with Net of Compassion strives to provide the homeless with a warm, safe place to sleep at night in an environment that is dignified and respectful, but the walls have gotten beaten up and dingy over time. If you love to get your hands dirty and see old spaces spring back to life, sign up to help freshen up the shelter’s sleeping spaces. Help us show the love of Christ to our neighbors in the city that are needing it the most.

Sew masks for the homeless
In partnership with Net of Compassion – St. John’s Church in Worcester serves the homeless faithfully throughout the year. Join our mask-making brigade to supply 500 handmade masks to the shelter so it can welcome people in from the cold this winter and provide them an extra measure of safety and care. If you are unable to purchase materials, please contact Sheryl Sullivan [sheryl@faithma.org] for assistance. There will be an optional mask pattern provided for you here, which will also hold other info you’ll need for specific material guidelines.

Give Financially
If your time is limited, but you are looking for a way to make an impact through Neighbors Helping Neighbors, you can support the initiatives by giving financially. We’ll be buying paint and supplies and food for the pantries, and your donations will go directly to those efforts.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors is an amazing element of Synergy, and there is still more to explore. From weekly messages, daily devotionals/weekly journals, to connecting to a community near you through a Faith Group.
